Join us for the Wanaka e-bike tour to discover how residents are working to protect and sustain this beautiful environment for years to come.  Here is a brief overview of what you will experience along the way.

Meet the locals - We start our tour with a lake side visit to meet our resident long finn eel family. We learn about their treacherous journey from the lake to the Pacific Ocean and how the locals support their safe passage.

Our famous tree -We stop to see the most famous tree in Wanaka for a photo stop and discover how it arrived here 80 years ago!

Biodynamic Winery - We continue our journey around the lake and learn about the family who made a commitment to grow wines ‘that’ do not harm the natural environment and ended up creating an award winning brand.

Bullock Creek - We head into town and visit a rare spring fed creek of exceptional purity that flows through our urban environment.  Learn about the community that are safe guarding it for future generations and take the opportunity to refill your water bottles with this pristine, fresh water.

Our Ancient Bird - We dismount our bikes and walk along the recently completed marine boardwalk to see one of the oldest birds in the world, the crested Grebe in their decorated floating nests.   We find out how one man saved them from extinction and how our community protects them.

Grow Wanaka - Back on our bikes we cycle past Ely Point around the lake to the Outlet where we visit a community based food initative run by volunteers who grow food to support local families in need.

Sustainable Shopping - We head back into town and reach the highest point on the tour which offers views over the lake. We then descend to visit a unique low waste store where we have a well deserved break to enjoy a local coffee/tea and some health snacks.

Community Values - Its a down hill ride from here back to the lake for a final stop at a famous sculpture that symbolises notions of nurturing, safety, friendship, openness and honesty - all values we treasure in our community.
